Chris Jones on request to reduce his practice workload: I'm a little older, right?Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive star Chris Jones is making adjustments ahead of the upcoming NFL season as he approaches his 30th birthday in July. Following a pivotal role in the Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl success, Jones signed a significant long-term contract earlier this offseason.

However, with age catching up, he’s reportedly in talks with head coach Andy Reid to reduce his practice workload during training camp

Managing his physical condition

While Jones has expressed a desire to play alongside teammate Travis Kelce for several more seasons, recent conversations with Reid demonstrate his immediate focus on sustainable performance and longevity.

“Listen man, I’ve already been talking to Andy about, ‘Let me skip out on training camp. I’m a little older, right?’ I can feel it,” he noted.

“I can feel when we have a day on training camp. Give me like two days off and one day on then, and we maybe can work something out, you know?”

Jones has been proactive about managing his physical condition as he navigates the demands of professional football. According to sources, discussions with Reid aim to balance his preparation for the season while safeguarding against wear and tear on his body, especially his joints.

The defensive tackle’s commitment to the Chiefs includes a recently signed multi-year contract, highlighting his importance to the team’s defensive strategy.

Despite this, Jones is mindful of the toll that rigorous training sessions can take, particularly as he approaches a milestone birthday in July.
